The Third Symposium of Asians in the Americas will take place at Rutgers University October 1-3, 2014.
In co-sponsorship with the Center for Latino Arts and Culture at Rutgers University, the art work of Maria Lau " 71 Memory and Identity" will be on exhibit.
The symposium aims to explore the multifaceted lives and representations of Asians in the Americas, past and present, and their intersections with borders, race, gender, nationality, geopolitical power, homeland, identity, and culture. We emphasize the presence of Asians in the Americas since at least the sixteenth century and their relevance for contemporary diaspora, globalization, and transnational studies.
